Your 2017 Fantasy League MVP: Todd Gurley

Gurley rushed for 118 yards and caught 10 passes for 158 yards and 2 TDs in week 16.

Every fantasy football season one player rises above all others and helps lead thousands of people to fantasy league championships.  This year’s unanimous fantasy MVP is the LA Rams RB Todd Gurley, not only was he the highest scoring player in most PPR and standard leagues (which is rare for a non QB) but he did his best work when it mattered most, during the fantasy football playoffs.

In week 14 (the first round of the fantasy playoffs) Gurley rushed for 96 yards and 2 touchdowns, he added 3 catches for 39 yards to finish the game with 135 total yards, 2 TDs and 22.5 fantasy points*.  That performance wasn’t against just any defensive unit either, it was against the #1 rushing defense in the NFL the Philadelphia Eagles.  In week 15 (fantasy football semifinals) Gurley and the Rams traveled north to Seattle to play against a usually tough Seahawks defense that in week 5 held Gurley to 50 total yards and no scores.  That week five total of 1 fantasy point was, by far, Gurley’s lowest output all season and the only fruitless effort he had in 2017.  Gurley not only got revenge on the Seahawks in week 15 but he also stamped a lot of fantasy owners’ tickets to the finals with a gaudy 180 total yards and 4 total touchdowns.  That’s right, he hit em with an ‘Al Bundy’, four touchdowns in a single game for an outlandish 41.5 fantasy points*.  Heading in to week 16 (fantasy football championships) owners were hoping for half as good of a performance from Gurley as he had the previous week.  To say that Gurley made his fantasy owners pleasantly surprised this Sunday would be an understatement.  Todd Gurley virtually single-handedly secured a championship for fantasy footballers worldwide by going H.A.M. against a Tennessee Titans defense that ranks 5th in the NFL against the run.  He ran for 118 yards and caught 10 of his 13 targets for 158 receiving yards and 2 receiving touchdowns for a season high 42 fantasy points*.

The two key ingredients to winning a fantasy football championship are consistency and big score ability, Gurley provided both this season.  He went over 100 total yards 12 times and had a touchdown or more in 10 contests this year.  He scored double digit fantasy points in all but 3 weeks which is why he is our 2017 fantasy MVP, and if you were wise enough to draft him then he was no doubt yours also, and very likely, a congratulations on your title win is in order.
